Batam city sewerage treatment plant

In Indonesia, waste treatment, especially sewerage is still a challenge due to undergo a change in structure both chemically and biologically that affect balance and the environmental ecosystem. Sewage Treatment is the process of removing contaminants from wastewater and household waste, both runoff, domestic, commercial, and institutional.
  • Municipal WWTP
  • Ultimate capacity
  • Biosoild recycling

In afford to handle waste with the fast population growth and fulfill the Millennium Development Goals (MDS’s), Batam Authority (BP Batam) build networks and system for wastewater.

The Batam sewerage treatment plant is the first integrated sanitation processing system in Indonesia, which is targeting completion of phase I to manage ultimate capacity of 20,000 m3/day.
PJLEnviro delivered FCR (food chain reactor) in WWTP, it is a type of integrated fixed-film activated sludge system that offers great benefits, both technical and economical. This technology enables microorganisms and bacteria (collectively referred to as biomass) to oxidize contaminants available in wastewater. The other advantage of FCR compared to activated sludge treatment is that the FCR is placed in a pleasant aesthetic structure that is odorless and suitable for tropical climates with the appearance of botanical gardens.

The excess solids of the settling tank are sent to the digester. Microorganisms use organic matter at solids are converted into a by-product as methane and water. Digestion results in a 90% reduction in pathogens and production of wet soil-like materials called "biosolids" contain 95-97% water. To remove water, mechanical equipment such as pressing filters are used to squeeze water from biosolids to reduce volume before being used as fertilizer.
