BASF Indonesia

Badische Anilin und Soda Fabric (BASF) is the largest chemical company in the world with head office in Ludwigshafen, German. The head office for BASF Indonesia is located in Jakarta, with four production sites in Cengkareng, Cimanggis, Cikarang, and Merak.
  • Chemical industry WWTP
  • Nutrient removal
  • Advanced treatment

Today, BASF Indonesia’s products and solutions range from petrochemicals, monomers, intermediates, dispersions and pigments, care chemicals, nutrition and health, performance chemicals, catalysts, construction chemicals, coatings, and performance materials to agricultural solutions.

BASF has been operating for more than 40 years, its started its investment in the country in 1976.

In 1996, PJLEnviro undertook the design and build for wastewater treatment in this company with the Oxidation Ditch system. Hereafter, PJLEnviro also contributes to providing advance treatment for ammonia removal.
The application of the Physio-chemical process uses ion exchange followed by electrochemical.

The Ion exchange lines are used to separate the ammonia from the plant effluent for the electrochemical treatment. A physicochemical treatment can be accomplished by an easy-to-use system comprising only few parameters, operation is completely automatic, and the end-product is stable. Moreover, they are ready to use without a startup time-period and can operate at hours of reduced electricity cost.

With all the advantages, they produce a satisfactory discharge that fulfills the regulations and decrease the negative environmental impact of high Total Ammonia Nitrogen (TAN) concentrations in the effluents.
